Troubleshooting guide

The power nozzle won't turn any more

You run it over the carpet and the pile doesn't lift. You look under the nozzle and the roller is still, or it turns in fits and stalls the moment you push. It is the most common fault on the whole machine, and also the cheapest to put right: the part that gives way first costs 6,60 €.

Unplug the machine before opening anything.

1. The belt

Nine times out of ten it is the belt. It is a rubber loop that stretches with heat and years: once it does, it slips on the pulley instead of driving the roller. The classic sign is that you can hear the nozzle's little motor running while the roller stands still — or it turns until you press down on the carpet, and there it stops. Sometimes you can smell hot rubber.

Turn the nozzle over, take off the plate and look: if it is slack, glazed on the inside, or snapped, it is the belt. It takes five minutes to change.

2. The roller jammed with hair

This check belongs with the belt, not after it. Hair and threads wind around the ends of the roller, inside the bearings, and slow it down. A roller that turns under strain wears out the belt in a few weeks: fit a new belt without cleaning first and the new one goes exactly the way the old one did.

Cut the wrapping with a blade, following the groove, and pull the hair off the end caps. If the bristles are now shorter than the plastic rim, they are no longer brushing and need replacing.

3. The electrified hose

If the nozzle gives no sign of life at all — no little motor, no hum — then no current is reaching it. Two wires run inside the electrified hose and they break where the hose bends most, that is, near the ends. Try this: machine running, move the hose slowly near the connection. If the nozzle switches on and off in time with your movement, the wire is broken.

4. The main board

Last on the list because it is the rarest. If the hose is sound and the nozzle stays silent, the problem is further upstream, on the board. You reach it by removing the rear cover only, and there is a video showing the replacement.

If you are unsure

Photograph the belt once removed, and the roller, and send them to us on WhatsApp: we will tell you whether the belt is enough or whether there is more to it.
