Sirena or Hyla?
You are about to spend a serious amount on a vacuum cleaner and you want to know which of the two to choose. This page puts the two systems side by side using only facts you can check yourself, and it also tells you where the other one is better.
Start with what they share. Neither uses a bag: the air passes through a bath of water, the dust stays trapped in the water, and what comes out is washed air. Anyone choosing a water vacuum is choosing well. The question is which one.

The empty cells are not a trick: they are what you find, and what you don't find, on the official websites. On Hyla there is no price and no way to buy online: you request information and an agent comes round. That is their choice and there is nothing wrong with it — but it means you only learn the price once someone is sitting in your living room.

Where Hyla is right
It would suit us not to write this, but without it the rest would be worth nothing.
Hyla states an induction motor. An induction motor has no carbon brushes, so it does not have the part that on the Sirena, sooner or later, has to be replaced. The Sirena's motor does have them: they are made to wear out in place of the copper, and after some years of regular use they reach the end of their life. It is the most important maintenance item on the machine, and there is a whole guide on this site explaining how to notice in time.
What it costs you, concretely: the motor overhaul with new brushes and a cleaned armature is 150 €, done in the workshop, and if the armature is sound we add two years to the warranty on the motor. It is not a fault: it is scheduled maintenance, like brake pads. But you are entitled to know before you buy, not after.
Where we differ
The price is written down. Ours is on this page, VAT included and free shipping across Europe. You don't have to let anyone into your home to find it out.
The certifications come from outside. Hyla states that it returns clean air at over 99%. That is a percentage stated by the manufacturer. Our percentages are stated by the manufacturer too — we say so on the spec sheet — but the machine additionally carries two certifications issued by independent bodies, ECARF and the Carpet and Rug Institute. That is not the same as a number written on your own website, and it can be checked.
What matters in eight years
A water vacuum lasts fifteen or twenty years. In that time the belt, the filter, the bristles, the hose insert and the motor brushes all wear out. It happens with any brand.
So the real question is not which one sucks better on the day you buy it. It is who is still there on the day something breaks. Machines sold door to door are sold by a person who, a few years later, often no longer answers — and that is where the hunt for a part begins.

We do not claim that Hyla is a bad machine: it is a serious product, with technology close to ours and a motor that on one point is better built than ours. We do not claim to suck harder: you could not verify that from behind a screen, and I would distrust anyone who promises it.
What we do say is this: with us the price is written down, the parts are written down, the workshop exists. Compare that with what you get to see of the other before you sign.
